GCU Sacramento Republic Team Day

posted Apr 15, 2018, 8:44 PM by Summer Bookout

We are excited to continue our partnership with the Sacramento Republic to give our players and their families a fun professional soccer experience while raising money for our club program!

Because of our participation last year The Republic has lowered the ticket price to $18 while still raising money for our scholarship programs.

Last year we raised over $1,000 and had a Sac Republic clinic for our coaches.

This year, if we sell 500 tickets we will get 2 free clinics as well as our banner put on display at the stadium.

Our first GCU Team Day will be on Saturday April 28th as the Republic take on the Tulsa Roughnecks. It should be a great game!

Kickoff is at 7:30pm at Papa Murphy's Park (at Cal Expo). Our teams will have the opportunity to sit together, participate in a pre-game parade, and have their team photo taken on the field.

Registration Begins May 1st

Gold Country United - Club Soccer

posted Oct 13, 2017, 5:39 PM by Web Administrator   [ updated Oct 13, 2017, 5:45 PM ]

Gold Country United (GCU) is our "club" soccer program and is intended for players between the ages of 8-18 who are looking for a higher level of coaching and competition.  Children must attend mandatory try-outs which are usually held in spring each year (check the Announcements section of the home page for dates).
Club teams typically play league games on Saturdays with games being within an hours drive of the Sacramento area.  Obviously, there are exceptions to this such as home games, tournaments, etc. Teams are matched by age group and ability level via an annual "seeding" tournament.  Club teams play rain or shine.

For more information or to get signed up for Club Soccer, visit their website at www.goldcountryunited.com
Recreational Soccer
Rec soccer accounts for over 75% of the teams and players in our league.  The ability levels are typically from beginners to those who are more experienced and developing their skills. Recreation soccer teams are matched up by age groups (2 yr. brackets) and then by overall team ability level via the annual "seeding" tournament, making the season fair and fun for everyone.
Other Differences
Unlike club soccer, there are no try-outs.  Instead, children get placed on teams based on several factors (area where you live, "friend/coach" requests, etc..).  Your child's coach will typically hold practices two days a week in the afternoons - this will vary by team/coach.  Once the season starts, games will be played locally within western Nevada County on Saturday mornings. Your child is guaranteed to play in each and every game they are eligible.

Another key difference between Recreational and Club soccer - Recreational games can/will get cancelled due to inclement weather, rain or unsafe playing conditions.
Still trying to decide whether a Recreational team, a Select team or a Competitive team is best for your child? Click here for a comparison, or here for Frequently Asked Questions about Gold Country United, our club soccer program.

We are desperate need of Volunteers to assist the Referee Coordinator.

If you are computer savvy and have a 3 to 5 hours a week to assist us, we are in urgent need of help. Contact President@goldcountrysoccer.org. You do not need to have Referee experience, just good computer skills.
