2019 season - are you as excited to start the rec soccer season as much as we are!? The league has been working hard all winter to help make this next season even better than the last. Here are some important updates and dates to make note of.
Thank you to all the parents that completed the survey at the end of last season. Your anonymous feedback was so greatly appreciated and really helped us to know what suggestions you had for improvements.
An exciting change we will be making is now your registration fee will include an entire uniform! Uniform will include jersey, shorts and 2 pairs of socks AND a medal (for year-end team celebrations). This was the most requested suggestion made in the parent survey and happy we could add this benefit for a minimal increase. The new uniform will be required this season as we want all our players to look branded and consistent.
ALL GIRLS TEAMS
We are excited to announce the first All Girls League in Grass Valley! This fall we will be trying a new format for girls ages 4-7 (U6 and U8). Girls in this age group will be formed into teams of 10-12 and their coaches will be working side-by-side GCU coaches in a mentorship program designed to train the coaches as well as provide quality skills instruction to the girls. We understand the unique needs of girls in our soccer program and we believe our new program will encourage more girls to play, will build their confidence and skill set from a very early age and propel them to continue to play soccer at the competitive level as they grow in the sport. We have designed this program to give support to girls’ coaches and we need YOU to make this year as successful as it can be. We are dedicated to providing training and mentorship to our coaches and believe in the power of women role models in particular. No previous soccer experience is necessary to be a successful U6-U8 coach, just enthusiasm and a desire to make soccer fun for these girls. If you would be interested in coaching please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. We would love to see your girls playing and you coaching out there this fall!
